چکیده

The sequence of transcapillary fluid movement during microocclusion of single capillaries was investigated on the theoretical basis of the Starling hypothesis. For most capillaries studied, the theory agrees reasonably well with the experiments with red cells used as the tags for fluid movement. By analyzing the sequence of the movement of the red cell in one single occlusion, it was possible to calculate the filtration coefficient and the effective pressure. The effective pressure ranged from 28 to 38 cm H2O. Since the arterial pressure in the capillary is about 20 to 30 cm H2O, the calculations suggest that about 10 cm H2O of the effective pressure is contributed by tissue factors, i.e., a negative hydrostatic pressure or a substantial colloidal osmotic pressure in the tissue space or both. The calculated filtration coefficient for the capillaries ranged from 0.01 to 0.07 fi?/(sec fj r cm H2O).

Mathematical Analysis of MHD Flow of Blood in Very Narrow Capillaries (RESEARCH NOTE)

A mathematical model for blood flow in narrow capillaries under the effect of transverse magnetic field has been investigated. It is assumed that there is a lubricating layer between red blood cells and tube wall. The transient flow of the fit red blood cell surrounded by plasma annulus in the narrow capillary is considered. The analysis of fluid flow between red cell and tube wall, when the ce...

A Biomechanical Approach for the Study of Deformation of Red Cells in Narrow Capillaries

This model focuses on the behavior of capillary-tissue fluid exchange system when the diameter of the capillary is less than that of red cell. In vivo and in vitro observations indicate that the width of the gap between the red cell and the vessel wall is generally small compared to the radius of the capillary for a single file flow of red cell in narrow vessel, particularly if the vessel diame...

Quantitative studies of microcirculatory structure and function. III. Microvascular hemodynamics of cat mesentery and rabbit omentum.

We made simultaneous measurements of intravascular pressure and red blood cell velocity for vessels which make up the modular configuration of microvascular networks in mesentery and omentum. An analysis of these variables and the computed volumetric flow rates is presented for arterioles which had a maximum diameter of 56 micrometer through the "true capillaries" (typically 7 micrometer for me...

Evaluation of Recirculation Time in Bubble Train Flow by Using Direct Numerical Simulation

In this research, hydrodynamics of the Bubble Train Flows (BTF) in circular capillaries has been investigated by Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS).The Volume of Fluid Based (VOF) interface tracking method and streamwise direction periodic boundary conditions has been applied. The results show that there exists an appropriate agreement between DNS and experimental correlation results. The re...

ABSTRACT Primary or spontaneous infarction of omentum is a rare disease producing acute abdominal condition. This is due to vascular changes in circulation of greater omentum. Infarction can be caused by torsion of omentum around the adhesion band following an operation, or it can occur spontaneously without an adhesion and operation. Rarely this condition is not due to torsion a...
